A recent study has found that people who read fitness magazines while working out are more likely to experience symptoms of anxiety and depression than people who read magazines that do not depict images of ultra-fit people. Apparently, the effects of exercise on mood and motivation can be undone by focusing on what, for most people, is an unattainable physique.
Elisabeth, who was featured on the cover of Fitness magazine soon after giving birth to her son, says that people who train in hopes of achieving a certain look are probably more susceptible to the phenomenon than people who train to become strong and healthy.
Joy suggests that people would be more likely to work out if casino gaming screens or other entertainment consoles are built into treadmills and bicycles.
